How To Crank-up Your Happiness Meter
Here’s a powerful exercise, excerpted from the RESOURCES section of our multi-media manifestation portal, that is guaranteed to MOVE your “happiness meter” in the right direction:
( by the way, at the end of this email, there is a treat for you … but, read this EXERCISE first )
Dr. Martin Seligman, founder of the Positive Psychology movement, says this exercise he created has literally changed people’s lives. Each semester, in his Positive Psychology class at the University of Pennsylvania, his students have “Gratitude Night.”
Seligman, in his book Authentic Happiness, says that “‘Friday, October 27 was one of the greatest nights of my life’ is not an untypical comment… we do not have a vehicle in this culture for telling the people who mean the most to us how thankful we are that they are on the planet.”
Seligman has created one, and here it is for you try ( click link below ):

“Select one person from your past who has made a major positive difference in your life and to whom you have never fully expressed your thanks (leave out the romantic partners or anyone from whom you could gain a great deal).
Write a testimonial just long enough to cover one laminated page. It is important that you do this face to face, not just in writing or on the phone. Do not tell the person the purpose of your visit in advance. Bring a laminated version of your testimonial as a gift. In your house or theirs, read your testimonial aloud slowly, with expression and eye contact.”
People keeping journals for an experiment during the time they did this exercise saw their “joy, happiness and life satisfaction” shoot up after they received a gratitude visit or made one.
So what if you feel that you have a rotten life and nothing to feel grateful for?
Try the exercise above.
Also, take the General Happiness Scale test and get a sense of how happy you are now compared to others.
Then, for two weeks, write down at least five things in your life that you’re grateful for each night. Then, take the test again. Studies have shown that this exercise has been associated with a long-term upward happiness trend.
And, we have a treat for you today…
( We’ll be sending out another email tomorrow, about the all-empowering and under-utilized skill of using gratitude in your life… until then… )

you keep telling me I have used an invalid username or password BUT I’ve given you my REAL username and password.
How can I proceed? You want me to invent???
I just want to thank you for the message. There are many people who have made me who I am today. There is one person who saved me by talking me out of commiting suicide. I was under a serious pressure and he came at the right time. He is my friend and we worked at the same company in 2002-2003. I have thanked him about what he did but I feel I need to do it again.
Regards,
Mashilo
